About the Author

Jessica Mullaney, the author of this series, is a pen name that I use to hide my real identity.  After all, who wants to be famous and rich.  Certainly not me ... well at least not famous.  I wouldn't mind the rich part all that much as long as I earned the money honestly and honorably.

As for my bio, I am an environmental engineer by education, but don't let that fool  you.  I'm not the typical engineer.  I paint ... although my paintings don't adorn gallery walls ... yet.  I play guitar and sing with wild abandon, although my music videos have yet to be discovered (search for Jessica Mullaney on YouTube.com to see my videos).  And, I love to create beautiful things ... including lovely gardens at my home in South Carolina and incredible tile patterns in the kitchens and baths that I renovate as part of my quest to become the 'Tile Queen.'   And, yes, this book series was born from the renovations I completed at out Seabrook Island condominium.

You see, I worked in the environmental engineering field for 20+ years, including 10+ years owning my own environmental consulting firm.  When the economic downturn occurred in 2008, our major client decided to internalize the operations that we completed for them, so our work dried up.  Ultimately, I closed and liquidated my business, and then began the long and arduous process of renovating, over long weekends, our family beach vacation condo at Seabrook Island, South Carolina.

Many of the stories in the first two books are based on real life experiences, but not necessarily all mine.  And sometimes, I took a real life experience and embellished.  But, embellishment was not always necessary because Mark Twain really did have it right when he said, "Truth is stranger than fiction, but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; truth isn’t."

As for my personal life, I will guard it closely because it is personal, not public.  However, I will allow that I am a single mom in the midst of a divorce after 21 years of marriage.  I have custody of my only child, a son, who is a gifted baseball player and golfer, and my life generally revolves around his intense athletic schedule.  I also have two large black dogs that were twice rescued from death row and have finally found a home with us despite their extensive neuroses.  And, finally, I have great friends and great neighbors that make my life very fulfilling as I live out my years in a quiet suburb in South Carolina.  My life is good and it can only get better ... particularly if my books are ever published.

So, dear reader, GOD bless and wish me luck in my quest to fulfill a life's goal of getting published.  And, don't forget to check out my music videos on YouTube.com
